Actor-politician Vijay addressed the controversy surrounding the delay of his film Jana Nayagan during a political rally in Thanjavur, thanking supporters and sending a strong message to critics.

Tamil superstar-turned-politician Vijay has finally spoken out about the ongoing delay surrounding his upcoming film Jana Nayagan, addressing the controversy during a public rally in Tamil Nadu’s Thanjavur.

Speaking to supporters at a campaign event for his political party Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), the actor acknowledged the growing debate around the film’s stalled release and thanked those who raised their voices in support.

The statement was widely interpreted as both a response to the controversy surrounding the film and a political message to his rivals.

Vijay Thanks Supporters Amid Film Controversy

During the speech, Vijay expressed gratitude to supporters and political leaders who spoke up during the controversy surrounding the film’s release.

He noted that many people, including Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M. K. Stalin, had raised their voices when the film ran into trouble ahead of its planned release.

“During the
release of _Jana Nayagan_, many people raised their voices in support. Even our Chief Minister voiced his support. I thank them for that,” he said.

The actor added that the support demonstrated the strength of his fan base and the larger movement forming around his political journey.

Why Jana Nayagan Is Facing Delays

Jana Nayagan, widely believed to be Vijay’s final film before transitioning fully into politics, has been caught in a certification controversy with the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC).

The film was submitted for certification in December 2025 but did not immediately receive clearance. It was later referred to a revising committee after objections were raised regarding certain scenes.

The
delay even prompted legal proceedings in the Madras High Court as producers argued that the hold-up was causing significant financial strain.

Because of the ongoing certification dispute, the film’s release has been pushed back and is now
unlikely to arrive before the Tamil Nadu Assembly elections in 2026.

Vijay’s Political Push Ahead Of Tamil Nadu Elections

Vijay addressed the issue while campaigning for TVK ahead of the upcoming Tamil Nadu Assembly elections, using the rally to reinforce his political message.

At the Thanjavur gathering, he also predicted that the next government in the state would be led by his party and urged supporters to continue campaigning across the state.

Vijay is also in the news after his wife filed for divorce.
