Every two-wheeler brand in India is revising prices of its products post the government’s recent GST reduction and favourably so, for bikes and scooters under the 350cc threshold. A few days ago, Yamaha Motor India revised prices of nearly its entire lineup, albeit with two glaring omissions – the R3 and MT-03. After speaking to the company, we now have some additional news to share in that regard.

  1. Yamaha R3 price is currently Rs 3.60 lakh and MT-03 costs Rs 3.50 lakh
  2. Both use the same 321cc, twin-cyl engine making 42hp, 29.5Nm of torque
  3. R3 and MT-03 come to India as CBUs

Yamaha R3 and MT03 to see sizable price cut soon

Both fall under the 350cc mark and are eligible for lower GST rates now

Yamaha’s R3 and MT-03 will soon receive a price cut of ‘up to Rs 30,000’ as per company officials we have spoken to. The exact quantum of the price cut is yet unspecified but even so this is sure to come as welcome news to those eyeing one of Yamaha’s twin-cylinder offerings. Currently, the R3 is priced at Rs 3.60 lakh, while the MT-03 is a little more affordable, at Rs 3.50 lakh.

When the R3 and MT-03 were launched most recently, they were met with a tepid market reaction owing to their rather high asking prices. In response, Yamaha Motor India slashed their prices by one lakh rupees, which gave prospective buyers some relief. Now, the government’s recent GST reduction on sub-350cc bikes will come as further good news to those eyeing either the R3 or MT-03.

While all of that is well and good, it does bear mentioning that the bikes that are on sale in India as of the publishing of this piece are older models and Yamaha had revealed the latest-spec R3 and MT-03 internationally late last year. Currently, there’s no word on if or when these latest models will make it to our country and those looking to get one of Yamaha’s sweet 321cc models should make a beeline to their nearest Blue Square dealership.

All prices ex-showroom, Delhi
