Actor Nadeem Khan, known for his role in Dhurandhar, was arrested in Mumbai on charges of raping his domestic worker over nearly a decade on the promise of marriage. Here’s what we know about him and the case.
Nadeem Khan, an Indian actor known for supporting roles in films and web series including the Ranveer Singh-starrer Dhurandhar, was arrested in Mumbai on rape allegations made by his former domestic worker. Police took him into custody on January 22 following a complaint that detailed years of alleged sexual assault under the pretext of marriage.
Allegations and arrest
Reports suggest that according to the complaint filed by a 41-year-old domestic worker, she met Khan in 2015 while working in the homes of various film personalities. She alleged that the two grew close and that Khan repeatedly promised to marry her. Based on those assurances, she said she entered into a physical relationship with him.
The woman claims that the relationship continued for nearly 10 years, with sexual encounters taking place both at her residence in Malwani and at Khan’s house in Versova, in Mumbai’s western suburbs. When Khan allegedly backed out of his promise to marry her, she approached police earlier this year.
Police initially registered the matter with the Versova Police, but it was later transferred to Malvani Police Station under a zero FIR because the first alleged assault was said to have occurred in the complainant’s jurisdiction. Khan was subsequently arrested and taken into custody as investigators began the legal process.
