Valentine’s Day got a political remix at the White House, which posted cheeky themed cards referencing Nicolas Maduro, Greenland, immigration and Trump’s executive orders
Valentine’s Day took a decidedly political turn at the White House this year when it rolled out a set of tongue-in-cheek Valentine’s cards online featuring everything from Nicolas Maduro to Greenland and immigration themes, complete with the playful tagline “Made just for you.”
The official handle shared images on X. One image shows US President Donald Trump holding what appears to be an “executive order” reading “UR My Valentine”.
Featured card refers to Maduro’s capture.
Another card depicts deposed Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro, who was captured by the US and deported to New York last month. It is designed like a Valentine’s card with “To:” and “From:” lines and shows a photo of Maduro blindfolded during his transfer to the US, with the caption “You captured my heart.”
Immigration-linked Valentine’s card
A third card presents Democratic Senator Chris Van Hollen meeting a man who was wrongfully deported to El Salvador by the Trump administration despite a court order halting the move. Their images appear inside a heart shape above the text: “My love for you is as strong as Democrats’ love for illegal aliens. I’d fly 1,537 miles to have a drink with you.”
Greenland ‘situationship’ message
Another image includes a heart-shaped graphic with a map of Greenland and a continuation of the Valentine’s theme. The text reads, “It’s time we define our situationship”, referencing Trump’s past push for annexing Greenland, a move that drew international condemnation before he went silent on the issue in recent weeks.

The White House post has sharply divided opinion on social media, triggering intense debate. Supporters praised the use of humour, while many described the move as inappropriate and unfitting for the executive office, arguing it exploited a day associated with love and affection to spotlight military action and territorial ambitions.
The political Valentine’s cards add to the White House’s increasingly unconventional social media engagement in recent months, particularly since the start of Donald Trump’s second term.
