2026 Volkswagen Tayron R-Line: All you need to know
Will borrow a lot of features from the smaller Tiguan R-Line
The Volkswagen Tayron R-Line is a rival to the Skoda Kodiaq, Jeep Meridian and MG Gloster in India, which is expected to be priced around Rs 50 lakh. It marks Volkswagen’s return to the 3-row full-size SUV space in India after the Tiguan All-Space’s discontinuation in 2021.
The Tayron R-Line is based on the 5-seater Tiguan R-Line’s MQB EVO platform but gets a 109mm longer wheelbase at 2,789mm. The Tayron R-Line will be powered by a 2-litre turbo-petrol engine that produces 204hp and 320Nm, which also does duties in the 5-seater model. A 7-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox sends power to all the wheels of the SUV.
The 3-row SUV looks similar to the 5-seater Tiguan, but gets distinct lighting elements. Inside, it will feature slightly different front-row seats with a ventilation function, a 15-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a digital driver’s display, a panoramic sunroof and a 30-colour ambient lighting. It is also expected to get a 3-zone climate control system.
Its safety suite is expected to consist of 7 airbags, a 360-degree camera, a tyre pressure monitoring system, a level 2 ADAS and an electronic parking brake.
