For the first time since entering the electric two-wheeler market over three years ago, Hero MotorCorp’s Vida brand has sold 1 lakh units in a calendar year. As per the latest retail sales numbers on the Vahan portal, between January 1 and December 5, a total of 1,00,383 Vida e-scooters were delivered to customers. Additionally, total sales of Vida e-scooters have crossed 1.50 lakh units since launch in October 2022.
Hero’s electric sales trajectory so far
Vida currently has 8 percent market share
While CY2025 opened on a tepid note with 1,626 units in January, monthly sales crossed 6,000 units for four straight months (March-June). Then sales crossed the 10,000-units mark for the first time in July (10,548 units) and Vida maintained that momentum for five straight months.
October (16,017 units) saw the highest number of units sold in the domestic market. Vida’s robust performance in a competitive market is amply reflected in the monthly sales figures where it has been a consistent entrant this year. Ranked No. 7 in January, Vida rose to sixth in February, maintained its No. 5 position from March – October and then wrested No. 4 rank from Ola Electric last month.
VX2 has been a key growth driver for Vida owing to its lower purchase price with BaaS
The launch of the family-centric VX2 in July 2025 has delivered accelerated growth for Vida which also has the sportier-looking V2 in its portfolio. The VX2 is fundamentally similar to the V2 in terms of its battery, motor and other mechanical components but has two main differences.
First, its styling is far more in line with the traditional family scooters on sale in India. Secondly – and more importantly – its purchase price is quite competitive when bought outright, but is downright disruptive when purchased via the BaaS (Battery as a Service) route. This second point has been instrumental in Vida’s accelerated growth in the later half of the year and has helped it overtake a steadily declining Ola Electric in terms of monthly sales quite comfortably.
