Ukraine and France will start joint weapons production soon, as trilateral talks with Russia and the US are not yielding any breakthroughs. The Ukrainian defence minister made the announcement as he hosted his French counterpart in Kyiv.
Ukraine’s Defence Minister Mykhailo Fedorov said the two countries have signed a letter of intent for “large-scale joint projects in the defence-industrial sector.” He said, “We are moving from supplies to joint production and long-term solutions that systematically strengthen our defence.”
However, neither Ukraine nor France have specified the kind of weapons that they will co-produce. The two countries also discussed new shipments of French weapons and military equipment to Kyiv.
