In his latest six-minute address, US President Donald Trump warned that the death toll of American troops is likely to increase as the US & Israel continue their attack on Iran.

In his new video address on Sunday, US President
Donald Trump pledged to avenge the three Americans who died during the ongoing
Israel-US strikes on Iran. However, he warned that the death toll of the American troops is “likely” to increase as the tensions escalate in West Asia. Trump went on to defend the strikes, accusing the Iranian regime of “waging war against the civilisation itself”.

The American leader addressed the deaths, saying “we grieve for the true American patriots who have made the ultimate sacrifice for our nation, even as we continue the righteous mission for which they gave their lives” and called for prayers for “the full recovery” of five others who were seriously wounded.

“Sadly, there will likely be more before it ends. That’s the way it is likely to be more. But we’ll do everything possible so that it won’t be the case,” he warned. Trump’s address came just hours after the US Central Command (
Centcom) announced that at 9:30 am (ET) on Sunday, three US service members had been killed and five seriously wounded in what the Pentagon calls Operation Epic Fury.

However, the American military did not mention when and where the casualties occurred. This marked the first US losses since Trump ordered the attack on Iran early on Saturday. The centcom statement also stated that “several others sustained minor shrapnel injuries and concussions” and were going to return to duty.”

Trump justifies the strikes

In his 6-minute address, which was edited and first posted on TruthSocial, Trump sought to make it clear that it may be a longer military campaign than they anticipated. Before this, he told the Daily Mail that he expects the conflict could last “four weeks or so”.

“An Iranian regime armed with long-range missiles and nuclear weapons would be a dire threat to every American,” Trump said, even though there is no credible evidence that Iran was trying to build a nuclear weapon. “We cannot allow a nation that raises terrorist armies to possess such weapons that would allow them to extort the world to their evil will. Not going to happen,” he furthered.

The American president claimed Iran’s “entire military command is gone” and “many of them want to surrender. They want immunity. They’re calling by the thousands”. However, Iran’s military, the Revolutionary Guard Corps, has threatened to launch its “most intense offensive operation” ever, targeting Israeli and American military installations in West Asia. In light of this, counterattacks have taken place in US bases in Bahrain and the United Arab Emirates.
