A week after launching war alongside Israel against Tehran, US President Donald Trump on Friday said that no deal would be struck with Iran except “unconditional surrender”.
“There will be no deal with Iran except UNCONDITIONAL SURRENDER!”, Trump said in a post on Truth Social.
“After that, and the selection of a GREAT & ACCEPTABLE Leader(s), we, and many of our wonderful and very brave allies and partners, will work tirelessly to bring Iran back from the brink of destruction,” he said, adding that efforts would also aim to boost Iran’s economy.
The president has so far declined to provide a timeline for ending hostilities with Iran.
In an interview with Time _M_agazine published late Thursday, he said he believes the administration’s objectives could be met within four to five weeks but emphasised that he has “no time limits on anything” and wants “to get it done.”
Trump also said he wants to be “involved in the appointment” of Iran’s next Supreme Leader following the killing of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and several other top Iranian officials on Saturday.
