Toyota’s Urban Cruiser Hyryder has achieved a remarkable feat by outselling the formidable Innova for the first time in October 2025. The Hyryder clocked its best-ever monthly sales of 11,555 units, a massive 201 percent year-on-year (YoY) growth, narrowly surpassing the combined sales of the Innova Hycross and Crysta, which stood at 11,294 units. This milestone occurred during a record-breaking month for Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM), which registered its highest-ever SUV and MPV dispatch of 33,809 units, a 61 percent YoY increase.

The midsize SUV hits an all-time high, nears 200,000-unit sales milestone
The Hyryder has been on a strong growth trajectory since its introduction in September 2022. The SUV achieved its previous best sales in August 2025 with 9,100 units and has sold over 160,000 units since its launch. With its record-breaking performance of 11,555 units in October 2025, the model is now on the verge of crossing the 2,00,000-unit sales mark.
Developed in collaboration with Maruti Suzuki as a sibling to the Grand Vitara, the Hyryder is the most successful rebadged model for Toyota. It offers a claimed mileage of up to 27.97kmpl, making it one of the most fuel efficient options in the midsize SUV segment, with ex-showroom prices ranging from Rs 10.95 lakh to Rs 19.57 lakh. Its recent success indicates a strong resonance with buyers looking for a feature-rich and fuel-efficient SUV, a combination that is clearly paying dividends.
Toyota Innova, Innova Hycross sales
Maintains a 7,924-unit lead in year-to-date sales
The Innova twins – Hycross and Crysta – still have a strong lead on the cumulative seven-month sales front. Between April and October 2025, the Innova siblings together sold 64,678 units, up 5 percent YoY, and were ahead of the Hyryder (56,754 units, up 57 percent YoY) by 7,924 units. The Innova nameplate has been a cash cow for the company, posting combined monthly sales that often topped the charts. The Innova Hycross is priced between Rs 18.06 lakh and Rs 31.90 lakh (ex-showroom), and the Innova Crysta is offered between Rs 19.99 lakh to Rs 27.08 lakh (ex-showroom).

The Toyota Hyryder and Innova twins collectively accounted for 67 percent of TKM’s record SUV and MPV sales during the festive month. Distinct in their roles, the 5-seater Hyryder SUV and the larger 7/8-seater Innova MPVs are divided by purpose and a notable price difference of over Rs 12 lakh between their top hybrid variants.
