2025 was the year when some of the most accomplished and celebrated artists left us but left behind a string of memories that their fans and the industry will always cherish. Here are the actors and filmmakers who passed away this year and left many heartbroken:

Dharmendra

The legendary star of Hindi cinema breathed his last on November 24 at the age of 89. His last film
_Ikkis_ is all set to release in cinemas on January 1, 2026. The actor had an experience of over six decades and gave multiple blockbusters in his illustrious career.

Manoj Kumar

Veteran actor-filmmaker
Manoj Kumar, who came to be known as ‘Bharat Kumar’ for his series of patriotic films such as “Shaheed”, “Upkar” and “Purab Aur Paschim”, died in a Mumbai hospital earlier this year in April. He was 87.

The industry veteran, whose films ruled the box office in the late 1960s and 1970s, had been ailing for a while and died of age related issues at the Kokilaben Ambani Hospital, family friend and filmmaker Ashoke Pandit revealed.

**Asrani**

Veteran actor Asrani who was one of the greatest of all time and known for movies like Sholay, Abhimaan, and Bawarchi, passed away at 84 due to age-related ailments. He had his most successful collaborations with actor and writer Kader Khan.

Some of the films they did together were- Swarg Se Sundar, Charnon Ki Saugandh, Patal Bhairvi, Himmatwala, Jaisi Karni Waisi Bharni, Dulhe Raja, Ankhiyon Se Goli Maare.

**Satish Shah**

Shah was battling kidney-related complications and had recently undergone a transplant.

In his illustrious career of over 4 decades, Shah featured in over 250 films, which include cults and blockbusters Hero No 1, Judwaa, Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa, Om Shanti Om, Hum Saath Saath Hain, Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge, Hum Aapke Hain Koun..!

Pankaj Dheer

Television star Pankaj Dheer, known for playing Karna in B R Chopra’s “Mahabharat” and king Shivdutt in fantasy drama “Chandrakanta”, died at the age of 68 following battle with cancer. “He passed away due to cancer.

Pritish Nandy

Veteran journalist, poet and filmmaker Pritish Nandy passed away in Mumbai earlier this year in January. In a social media post, veteran actor and Nandy’s friend Anupam Kher paid glowing tributes to him.

Mukul Dev

Bollywood actor Mukul Dev, who featured in films like Yamla Pagla Deewana, R…Rajkumar & Son of Sardaar among others, passed away at the age of 54.

His
_Son of Sardaar_ costar Vindu Dara Singh confirmed the news to India Today and said, “After his parent’s death, Mukul was keeping to himself. He would even step out of the house or meet anyone. His health deteriorated in the last few days and he was in the hospital. My condolences to his brother and everyone who knew and loved him. He was an amazing person, and we will all miss him.”

Shefali Jariwala

Actress and model Shefali Jariwala, who looked perfectly healthy, passed away at the age of 42 due to cardiac arrest. In fact, several celebs before her who looked completely fine succumbed to heart disease.

Kamini Kaushal

Actor Kamini Kaushal, one of Hindi cinema’s earliest female stars who began her career with the classic “Neecha Nagar” in 1946 and went on to act in a host of films right till 2022, died in her Mumbai home, a close family friend said. She was 98.
