The Tata Punch EV facelift has been launched in India at a starting price of Rs 9.69 lakh (ex-showroom). This is the first major update to Tata’s smallest electric SUV since its introduction, bringing with it styling tweaks inspired by the ICE Punch, feature upgrades and revisions to the electric powertrain line-up. Bookings are now open, and deliveries are expected to begin shortly.

The Punch EV facelift is offered in 6 variants, spread across different trim levels and battery options. Tata Motors has structured the line-up to cater to both urban buyers looking for shorter commutes and those seeking a longer driving range.

Prices range from Rs 9.69 lakh to Rs 12.59 lakh (ex-showroom), depending on the variant and battery pack.

New 40kWh battery option joins existing line-up

 

The Punch EV facelift is available with 30kWh and 40kWh battery packs, both paired with a single front-mounted electric motor. The larger 40kWh battery delivers an ARAI-claimed range of 468 km and a C75 real-world range of 355 km, while the 30kWh version is rated at 365 km(ARAI). Tata Motors also offers a lifetime, unlimited-kilometre battery warranty.

Power comes from a front-mounted electric motor producing 129 hp in the 40kWh battery variants, driving the front wheels. Fast-charging support continues, with Tata claiming a 20-80 percent charge in 26 minutes using a 65kW DC fast charger, with a range top-up of 135 km in 15 minutes.

The Punch EV facelift gets a revised front bumper with a closed-off grille and a cleaner design. The earlier black trim connecting the headlamps has been removed, while the Y-shaped LED daytime running lamps (DRLs) and centrally mounted charging flap remain unchanged.

It also gets new 16-inch aero-optimised alloy wheels inspired by larger Tata EVs, along with new three new exterior colour options paired with a contrasting black roof. At the rear, the facelift introduces connected LED tail-lamps, bringing it in line with the ICE Punch facelift. Ground clearance of the Punch EV stands at 195mm, while water-wading capacity is 450mm.

Bigger touchscreen likely on higher trims

Inside, the Punch EV facelift retains the overall dashboard layout with a dual-tone colour scheme and new trim finishes. Higher variants get a 10.25-inch infotainment touchscreen, and a 10.25-inch digital driver’s display.

Features such as wireless charging, ventilated front seats, ambient lighting, connected car tech and a 360-degree camera continue on the Punch EV, depending on the variant. Safety equipment includes six airbags as standard, high beam assist, along with electronic stability control, hill-hold assist, a tyre-pressure monitoring system and ISOFIX child-seat mounts.

The facelifted Punch EV is offered in 6 variants, and prices have been revised. The base variant costs Rs 30,000 less now as compared to the outgoing model.

In the Indian market, the Punch EV facelift continues to rival the Citroen eC3 while sitting above the Tiago EV and below the Nexon EV in Tata’s own electric line-up.
