Singer-composer Palash Sen, frontman of the band Euphoria, has weighed in on Arijit Singh’s decision to step away from film playback singing, offering a personal perspective that resonates with his own career journey. Sen said he “knows why” Arijit made the choice, drawing on his own early experiences in the entertainment industry to explain what may have led him to take a different path.

Taking to Instagram, Palash Sen shared a series of old photographs from his acting debut in the 2002 film Filhaal, recalling how the project, despite being a flop at the time, gave him cherished memories of working with notable actors and creators. He wrote that he entered the industry primarily to sing one song with renowned lyricist Gulzar and composer Anu Malik, and never intended to pursue films long-term.

Sen acknowledged that he was once “perceived as a threat” and faced criticism and discouragement, experiences that shaped his decision to step away from Bollywood and focus on his own music. Reflecting on this, he said, _“_The truth is, I know why my bro, Arijit, is quitting film playback. I was there way back & I chose my own path… the path that I know Arijit will now walk on.” He described choosing his own musical journey outside the traditional film system as a conscious and fulfilling decision.

Arijit Singh surprised fans and the music fraternity in late January when he a
nnounced that he would no longer be taking on new assignments as a playback vocalist, describing the decision as the end of a cherished chapter in his career. In a heartfelt social media message, he thanked listeners for their support over the years and said he was stepping back not from music entirely, but from the routine of film playback work. He wrote, “Hello, Happy new year to all. I want to thank you all for giving me so much of love all these years as listeners. I am happy to announce that I am not gonna be taking any new assignments as a playback vocalist from now on. I am calling it off. It was a wonderful journey.”

In subsequent posts, he
explained that his decision was not impulsive and that he has long felt drawn to explore other musical avenues, including Indian classical music and creative projects beyond film songs.

The
entertainment industry also reacted to Singh’s retirement. Recently,
Aamir Khan also visited the singer at his Murshidabad home.
