Saudi Arabia is reportedly planning to build the world’s first Sky Stadium in NEOM, a futuristic arena suspended 350 metres above the ground. The 46,000-seat venue is expected to be completed by 2032 ahead of the 2034 FIFA World Cup.
Saudi Arabia is reportedly planning to build the world’s first “sky stadium” in NEOM, which will be constructed at the top of a skyscraper. It will be a part of the Kingdom’s preparations for the 2034 FIFA World Cup. The stadium, described as the world’s inaugural “sky arena,” will seat around 46,000 spectators and will be powered entirely by renewable energy sources such as solar and wind power.
According to reports circulating on social media, construction of the NEOM Stadium will begin in 2027 and is expected to be completed by 2032, just in time for the 2034 World Cup. While there has been no official mention of the NEOM Sky Stadium in Saudi state media yet, several reports claimed that Saudi Arabia is planning to build 15 new stadiums for the World Cup.
The futuristic NEOM Sky Stadium is said to be integrated into The Line, Saudi Arabia’s ambitious linear city project. As per Construction Review, the stadium will be suspended 350 meters (1,150 feet) above the ground, a one-of-a-kind engineering marvel that has never been done before.
Is the news real or fake?
Meanwhile, digitally rendered images and videos of the proposed Sky Stadium are doing the rounds on social media. However, nothing has been officially confirmed by Saudi Arabia as of yet. Indian business tycoon Sanjiv Goenka, who is the owner of the Indian Premier League club Lucknow Super Giants and the Indian Super League side Mohun Bagan Super Giants, also shared a post about the Sky Stadium on X.
