Renault has launched a new 10th Anniversary Edition of the Kwid in India with prices starting from Rs 5.15 lakh (ex-showroom). Marking the Kwid’s 10 years in India, the Anniversary Edition model comes with exclusive exterior and interior updates. Renault has also used this opportunity to enhance the regular Kwid with additional safety features and has revised its variant nomenclature as well.

  1. Kwid Anniversary Edition model limited to just 500 units
  2. Gets exclusive dual-tone colours and contrasting accents in yellow
  3. Top-spec variant of Kwid now gets six airbags

Here’s a look at the prices of the Renault Kwid post the GST reform, along with the new Anniversary Edition models:

Renault Kwid prices (Ex-showroom)
Variant Price (ex-showroom)
Authentic Rs 4.30 lakh
Evolution Rs 4.67 lakh
Evolution AMT Rs 5.00 lakh
Techno Rs 5.00 lakh
Techno AMT Rs 5.49 lakh
10th Anniversary Edition Rs 5.15 lakh
10th Anniversary Edition AMT Rs 5.64 lakh
Climber Rs 5.47 lakh
Climber AMT Rs 5.88 lakh

In its 10 years in the Indian market, the Kwid has received just one major facelift in 2019. Sales of the entry-level hatchback has dwindled in recent years, but the new price cut with the GST reform could give a fresh impetus to sales.

Renault Kwid Anniversary Edition: what’s new?

The new Kwid Anniversary Edition is based on the mid-spec Techno trim and comes finished in two dual-tone exterior paint shades: Fiery Red with Black Roof and the new Shadow Grey with Black Roof. There’s also a new yellow accent on the grille, new decals on the doors and C-pillar and new gloss black flexi wheel options.

On the inside, the Kwid Anniversary Edition comes with a new leather-wrapped steering wheel with contrast stitching in yellow. The yellow accents can also be found surrounding the infotainment screen, on the seats and on the door pads; there are also 10th Anniversary Edition logos on the front seats headrests. Renault has also added puddle lamps and illuminated scuff plates on Kwid Anniversary Edition which will be limited to just 500 units.

Renault Kwid variant nomenclature updated

The Kwid is now available in four trims – Authentic, Evolution, Techno and Climber – with the new nomenclature bringing it in line with the updated Triber and Kiger. Previously, the Kwid was available in RXE, RXL, RXT and Climber trims.

The top-spec Climber variant has also been updated with 6 airbags, up from the earlier 2. Additionally, all variants of the Kwid now get 3-point seat belts for all the seats.

Renault Kwid powertrain options

Mechanically, the Kwid remains unchanged. Under the hoot, it gets a 1.0-litre, three-cylinder petrol engine which produces 68hp and 91Nm of peak torque. Transmission options include a 5-speed manual or an AMT. The Kwid rivals the likes of the Maruti Alto K10 and S-Presso in the entry-level hatchback segment.
