Rajpal Yadav strongly responds after filmmaker Priyadarshan blames his “poor education” for the Rs. 9 crore cheque bounce case, calling the statement completely wrong and misleading.
Actor Rajpal Yadav has reacted sharply to filmmaker Priyadarshan’s recent statement, where the director attributed the actor’s ongoing Rs. 9 crore cheque bounce case to his “poor education.” Calling the comment unfair and inaccurate, Rajpal said the claim was “completely wrong” and misrepresented his background and professional journey.
Speaking about the controversy, Rajpal told Indian Express, “This is completely wrong. Priyanji doesn’t know me. I am well educated guy, I have been working since the age of 11 to 55. Even the biggest of stalwarts land in trouble at some point, but that has nothing to do with their education. Had I been poorly educated, I wouldn’t have survived here for 25-30 years.”
“He doesn’t know me,” says Rajpal Yadav
Rajpal further expressed disappointment over Priyadarshan’s remarks, stating that the filmmaker does not truly understand his life or circumstances. “I am like Priyanji’s son. Whenever he asks, I am ready to prove myself as an actor for a lifetime. But Priyanji or anyone from Bollywood doesn’t know the whole story, so any judgements from them don’t hold value.” the actor added.
He emphasised that his legal troubles were not the result of ignorance or lack of education, but rather stemmed from complicated financial commitments tied to past projects and investments.
Background: The Rs. 9 crore cheque bounce case
The controversy resurfaced after
Rajpal Yadav recently secured bail in connection with a Rs. 9 crore cheque bounce case. The case is linked to loans and financial arrangements tied to a production venture that did not perform as expected.
During recent media interactions,
Rajpal had earlier stated that he has “over Rs. 1,200 crore worth of work lined up for the next seven years”, asserting his determination to clear debts and stabilise his finances.
Priyadarshan’s remark that Rajpal’s “poor education” may have contributed to his financial issues triggered criticism from fans and industry insiders alike, many of whom felt the statement unfairly reduced a complex situation to a personal failing.
Rajpal’s firm response has now put the spotlight back on the larger realities of financial vulnerability within the film industry, even among established actors.
Actor remains focused on rebuilding career
Despite the legal and financial turbulence, Rajpal Yadav remains optimistic. He has launched a YouTube channel, signed multiple projects, and continues to emphasise that his priority is professional stability and personal dignity.
