ussian President Vladimir Putin will be on a state visit to India on December 4–5 for the 23rd India–Russia Annual Summit, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) confirmed on Friday. The visit, taking place at the invitation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, will see the Russian leader hold high-level talks in New Delhi.
The Kremlin also confirmed the dates through state media, noting that Putin will travel to India for the annual summit and for a bilateral meeting with Prime Minister Modi.
In its official statement, the MEA said, “At the invitation of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, President of the Russian Federation H.E. Mr. Vladimir Putin will pay a State Visit to India from 4–5 December 2025 for the 23rd India–Russia Annual Summit.”
During the two-day visit, President Putin will meet Prime Minister Modi for discussions on the full spectrum of bilateral ties. President Droupadi Murmu will also receive the Russian President and host a banquet in his honour.
According to the MEA, the summit will give both leaders an opportunity to review progress in the India–Russia partnership, chart a roadmap to further strengthen the “Special and Privileged Strategic Partnership,” and exchange views on regional and global issues of shared interest.
