PM Modi expressed concern over recent attacks during a telephonic conversation with the two leaders, and reviewed welfare and safety of Indian nationals in Oman and Kuwait amid rising Gulf volatility
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday spoke with two key leaders from the Gulf region amid escalating tensions following recent military strikes involving the United States, Israel and Iran.
PM Modi held a telephonic conversation with the Sultan of Oman Sultan Haitham bin Tarik, and separately spoke with Kuwait’s Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Mubarak Al-Sabah.
During both discussions, the Prime Minister conveyed his concern over the recent attacks in their respective countries.
He also discussed the welfare and safety of the Indian community residing in Oman and Kuwait, reiterating that the protection of Indian nationals abroad remains a priority amid rising volatility in the Gulf.
The outreach comes a day after PM Modi held similar conversations with leaders of Saudi Arabia, Bahrain and Jordan.
Earlier, India called for restraint as the conflict in Iran and the broader Gulf region intensified, emphasising that dialogue and diplomacy are the only effective means to de-escalate tensions and prevent further civilian casualties.
The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said New Delhi was “deeply concerned about recent developments in Iran and the Gulf region” and urged “all parties to exercise restraint, avoid escalation, and prioritise the safety of civilians.”
The ministry further stressed that “dialogue and diplomacy should be pursued to reduce tensions and address underlying issues,” while underscoring that the “sovereignty and territorial integrity of all states must be respected.”
