Music composer Palash Muchhal has publicly confirmed that his wedding with Indian women’s-team star Smriti Mandhana has been called off. In an emotional post shared on Instagram Stories, he said he has chosen to “move on” from the relationship and asked people to stop spreading baseless gossip.
In his statement, Muchhal addressed swirling rumours that his wedding was cancelled because of alleged infidelity. He described these rumours as deeply hurtful and entirely “baseless and defamatory.” He warned that his team will take strict legal action against anyone spreading false information.
The statement read, “Its been very difficult for me to see people react so easily on baseless rumours about something which has been most sacred to me. Its the most difficult phase of my life and I will deal with it gracefully holding on to my beliefs. I truly hope we, as a society, learn to pause before judging someone based on unverified gossip, whose sources are never identified. Our words can wound in ways we may never understand.”
