The Mahindra XUV 7XO has finally been revealed by the Indian carmaker. The 2026 Mahindra SUV, which is essentially the XUV700 facelift, is the second model to use Mahindra’s newer nomenclature after the XUV 3XO, which is the updated XUV300.
- Tata Safari, MG Hector Plus, and Hyundai Alcazar rival the Mahindra XUV 7XO
- Triple-screen setup, 540-degree camera setup among new features
- Mahindra has also updated the suspension for a better ride
Mahindra XUV 7XO exterior and interior
The new XUV 7XO adopts a few styling elements from Mahindra’s latest born EVs, the XEV 9S and the XEV 9E, including boomerang-shaped DRLs, trapezoidal front LED headlamp units, new tail-lights with hexagonal detailing, and a revised front grille. The profile remains largely similar to the outgoing XUV700, save for new alloy wheel designs, while the rear gets a connected LED tail-light setup and a redesigned bumper.
Inside, the XUV 7XO prominently gets a new triple-screen setup, comprising a digital instrument cluster, a central infotainment screen, and a dedicated screen for the front passenger. There is also a new two-spoke steering wheel and a redesigned centre console that replaces physical HVAC controls with a touch-panel unit.
In terms of comfort, the XUV 7XO packs in a panoramic sunroof, ventilated front seats, a powered Boss Mode for the front passenger seat, a 16-speaker Harman Kardon sound system with Dolby Atmos, wireless charging, and dual-zone climate control.
Mahindra XUV 7XO safety
The Mahindra XUV 7XO comes equipped with a 540-degree camera, an electronic parking brake with auto-hold, and ISOFIX seat anchorages. As before, a Level 2 ADAS suite, which includes adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist, and automatic emergency braking, is on offer. While the XUV700 earned a full five-star rating in the 2021 Global NCAP crash tests, Mahindra claims the 7XO has been engineered to match that performance under Bharat NCAP.
New Mahindra XUV 7XO engine and gearbox
On this front, the new XUV 7XO is matched with the previous SUV. It continues to utilise the same two engine options: a 200hp, 2-litre turbo-petrol engine, and a 2.2-litre diesel engine producing up to 185hp. Gearbox options comprise a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed torque converter automatic for both engines. The diesel engine also retains the option of an All-Wheel Drive (AWD) system on higher trims.
