PM Modi in Israel: At the Israeli Parliament, PM Modi expressed India’s backing for the Gaza peace initiative, describing it as a step toward lasting and fair peace in the region. He also denounced Hamas’ October 7 attack on Israel

Prime Minister Narendra Modi was met with a standing ovation at the Israeli Knesset on Wednesday, shortly after his arrival in Tel Aviv for a two-day state visit to Israel. He is the first Indian Prime Minister to address the Israeli Parliament, marking his second visit to Israel in a decade, after his 2017 trip.

Upon arrival, PM Modi was welcomed by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his wife Sara. The Indian PM expressed his gratitude for the warm reception, calling it an “extremely honourable” welcome, while Netanyahu described the visit as “historic,” posting on X, “Aapka swagat hai (We welcome you).”

The two leaders held a brief meeting, during which PM Modi highlighted discussions on technology, agriculture, water management, talent partnerships, and regional developments, focussing on the potential for closer collaboration. He is also scheduled to meet Israeli President Isaac Herzog. The agenda includes reviewing the India-Israel Strategic Partnership, exploring cooperation in defence, science, trade, and people-to-people exchanges, and exchanging perspectives on regional and global issues.
