Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Wednesday called Prime Minister Narendra Modi and discussed ways to further strengthen the strategic partnership between the two countries.
Netanyahu also shared views on the situation in West Asia.
“PM Modi reaffirmed India’s support for efforts towards a just and durable peace in the region, including early implementation of the Gaza Peace Plan,” a statement from the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) said.
The statement said that both leaders expressed satisfaction over the ongoing progress in the India-Israel Strategic Partnership and reaffirmed their commitment to further deepen these ties for mutual benefit.
“The two leaders strongly condemned terrorism and reiterated their zero-tolerance approach towards terrorism in all its forms and manifestations,” the statement added.
It also noted that the two leaders agreed to stay in touch.
The two leaders last spoke in October, when Netanyahu paused a cabinet meeting to take PM Modi’s call. PM Modi had reached out to congratulate Netanyahu on the implementation of the Gaza Peace Plan.
“Called my friend, Prime Minister Netanyahu, to congratulate him on the progress made under President Trump’s Gaza peace plan. We welcome the agreement on the release of hostages and enhanced humanitarian assistance to the people of Gaza. Reaffirmed that terrorism in any form or manifestation is unacceptable anywhere in the world,” PM Modi had posted on X.
PM Modi had also spoken with US President Donald Trump, praising his efforts to end hostilities in West Asia.
The conversation followed the US announcement that Israel and Hamas, engaged in conflict for two years, had agreed on the first phase of the Gaza Peace Plan.
This initial phase includes a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip and the release of both Israeli hostages and Palestinian prisoners.
