Russia’s embassy in Kenya on Tuesday released an AI-generated video depicting President Vladimir Putin dressed as Santa Claus, distributing Christmas presents to global leaders.

“Christmas season is the time of giving, when Russia makes sure that all of its friends get something nice and are well and merry,” the video caption read. “As for the naughty ones, they too will get what is coming for them.”

In the video, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is shown receiving a Russian stealth fighter jet, symbolizing India-Russia defence ties. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky appeared to be on the “naughty” list, receiving a pair of handcuffs. US President Donald Trump and other leaders were also depicted receiving gifts.

The AI-generated clip shows Putin in Santa attire with a bag of presents, set to an instrumental version of the Christmas carol “We Wish You A Merry Christmas.”

The video was produced by the Russian state-backed outlet Sputnik.

Zelensky was shown not only receiving the handcuffs but also behind bars in the video.

US President Donald Trump, in contrast, was depicted receiving a framed photo of his meeting with Putin in Alaska.

Chinese President Xi Jinping received ornaments representing Chinese yuan and Russian rubles, while a dollar-bill ornament fell from a Christmas tree and shattered, symbolising economic alignment and de-dollarisation.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan was shown receiving a snow globe labeled “Akkuyu,” referencing Turkey’s nuclear power plant constructed by Russia.

North Korean leader Kim Jong Un got a sword with a note reading, “From Russia with gratitude.”

Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban was presented with a gift card for Gazprom, Russia’s energy giant, marked with a “special offer” message.

Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro received a DJ set accompanied by the caption, “No war just peace, forever, forever, forever.”

Analysts suggest the video appears designed to mock Trump’s peace efforts while threatening Zelenskyy.

Its release comes amid rising tensions in the Russia-Ukraine conflict, following a major Russian attack on Kyiv.

Meanwhile, the US and Ukraine are reportedly discussing a 20-point peace plan that includes security guarantees and demilitarised zones.
