Michael Carrick has promised Manchester United fans that there is much more to come after his side’s dramatic late win over Fulham on Sunday. United snatched a thrilling 3-2 victory at Old Trafford in a match that could have gone either way in the closing stages.

Carrick after goals from Casemiro and Matheus Cunha put them in control. However, Fulham stunned the home crowd late on as Raul Jimenez converted a penalty before Kevin smashed in a brilliant equaliser in stoppage time.

Man United had thrown away two points, they responded. Captain Bruno Fernandes delivered a fine cross into the box and Benjamin Sesko, who has been under pressure this season, turned to score the winner. It was Sesko’s fourth goal in his last four games.
Carrick lauds his team
After the win, Carrick said the result felt like “more than just a win” for everyone connected with the club. He said the win was about much more than the league table. He felt the emotions of the game showed the growing connection between the team and the supporters.
“There’s got to be excitement. We want people to come in with passion and leave happy, looking forward to the next one. We’re not getting ahead of ourselves, but there is a lot more to come from us. We’ve only been together three weeks and we’re still working on things,” Carrick said.
Carrick admitted United did not play at their best but praised his players’ character for bouncing back after conceding late goals. He said moments like Sesko’s winner can lift the entire club. “When games finish like that, it feels like more than just a win. You see the players, the staff, the supporters all together. That’s what football is about. It gives everyone belief and energy,” he added.
Carrick has now won four or more of his first five league games in charge, including the previous stint, a feat previously achieved only by Sir Matt Busby in 1946 and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer in 2019. United are also unbeaten in their last seven league matches and have climbed to fourth place in the Premier League table, strengthening their Champions League qualification hopes.
Carrick has also matched something that former manager Ruben Amorim struggled to do during his turbulent spell – winning three games in a row. Given the rapid turnaround in results and mood around the club, United’s hierarchy may look to appoint him on a permanent basis.
