MG has launched the Rakan 4×4 in Kuwait. It marks MG’s first model to bear an Arabic name, which means a ‘symbol of strength.’ The Rakan’s launch in Kuwait provides a hint of the upcoming Majestor launch this month. The Rakan features a 2.0-litre turbo-diesel engine paired with an 8-speed ZF automatic transmission. Essentially a facelift of the Gloster, the India-spec Majestor will sit as MG India’s flagship SUV and will sell alongside the former.

Gets a refreshed design for the front-end

MG had previously teased the Majestor, giving a first look at the SUV’s front fascia. The Rakan features an extensively redesigned front compared to the Gloster, with slim LED DRLs up top and a large rectangular grille finished in gloss black. Faux silver skid plates and a muscular bumper complete the front look. A similar design was featured on the Majestor teaser as well, suggesting that the Rakan could likely be the same SUV sold under a different name.

The side profile retains the overall silhouette of the Gloster, but the alloy wheels feature a different design and a dual-tone finish, and there is black cladding lower down. At the rear, the Rakan features a connected LED tail-lamp setup with a revised bumper design and silver skid plates. The India-spec Majestor is expected to carry over these design elements.

It features a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a digital driver display, powered front seats with a massage function, multi-zone climate control, a 12-speaker JBL sound system, leatherette upholstery, rear AC vents, and USB outlets. With the last two rows folded, the Rakan offers a boot space of up to 2,400 litres. The Majestor could likely get a similar interior setup.
