The Devil Wears Prada 2 trailer is out, bringing back Meryl Streep, Anne Hathaway, Emily Blunt and Stanley Tucci. Here’s everything to know about the sequel, new cast members and its May 2026 release date.
Nearly two decades after The Devil Wears Prada became a pop-culture touchstone, 20th Century Studios has unveiled the first trailer from its much-anticipated sequel, The Devil Wears Prada 2. The new preview confirms the return of the original power players, Meryl Streep, Anne Hathaway, Emily Blunt and Stanley Tucci, as the story heads back to the cut-throat world of fashion journalism.
Set once again in New York City, the sequel revisits the sleek offices of Runway Magazine, with Miranda Priestly, Andy Sachs, Emily Charlton and Nigel Kipling stepping into a fashion landscape that has changed dramatically since 2006. The trailer hints at shifting power dynamics, evolving ambitions and the price of staying relevant in an industry driven by reinvention.
The Devil Wears Prada 2 trailer out
While the makers are keeping major plot details under wraps, the trailer suggests that
Miranda Priestly’s iron grip on fashion may finally be facing real challenges, as digital media, shifting tastes and generational change collide with old-school authority. Andy and Emily appear to have carved out very different paths since their Runway days, setting the stage for both conflict and unexpected alliances.
The trailer opens with a brief callback to the first film before revealing Andy Sachs’ return to Runway.
Miranda Priestly, who either genuinely fails to recognise Andy or pretends not to, turns to Nigel and asks if he knows who she is.
“She was one of the Emilies,” he replies, leaving Miranda visibly puzzled. The line is a nod to Emily Blunt’s character from the original film, Miranda’s perpetually frazzled right-hand woman, who was ultimately sidelined when Andy rose through the ranks.
The preview then strings together glimpses of Miranda and Andy navigating familiar territory before they come face-to-face with the original Emily at the Runway office. Now polished and flanked by an entourage, Emily’s presence signals just how far she has climbed since her assistant days. “Am I having a hallucination?” she quips upon seeing her former colleagues.
When Emily reminds Miranda that she and Andy worked at Runway at the same time, Miranda responds with her trademark indifference, “Really? Where was I?”
The trailer’s final reveal confirms Andy as Runway’s new Features Editor, a development that clearly catches Emily off guard. While Emily’s current title remains undisclosed, her commanding demeanour says enough. “You’ve changed. You’re much more confident. Kept those eyebrows though, didn’t you?” she remarks, leaving Andy momentarily stunned.
