Mercedes-Benz India will announce pricing for the EQS Maybach electric SUV on September 5. The Maybach EQS SUV made its debut in China last year and will join the Mercedes-Maybach GLS SUV in the brand’s India line-up.
The Maybach EQS SUV is based on the EQS electric SUV that’s sold abroad. The EQS Maybach is the brand’s flagship electric SUV globally, and in order to differentiate itself from the standard EQS SUV, it gets Maybach-specific design, feature and tech upgrades.
- Maybach EQS SUV sports brand-specfific changes, outside and in
- Comes in EQS 580 and 680 forms overseas
Mercedes-Maybach EQS SUV exteriors
The Maybach EQS SUV gets chrome bits on the outside and a plethora of Maybach logos all around, just like the facelifted Mercedes-Maybach GLS that went on sale in India recently. It gets a standard Mercedes-Benz emblem on the hood, and a unique black panel at the front that mimics the grille – this large panel actually has radar sensors for ADAS and other tech bits. The panel also gets vertical chrome strips that give it a 3D look.
There are additional chrome elements on the front bumper as well, and the upper part of the faux grille – like other Maybach models – has “Maybach” lettering in chrome. On the sides, the Maybach EQS SUV gets more chrome bits on the window line and B-pillar, and an additional Maybach logo on the D-pillar. It also gets “EQS” embossed in the front window, similar to the standard EQS SUV.
Wheel and tyre choices include 21- or 22-inch alloy and forged wheels with Maybach lettering. It also gets factory-fitted illuminated running boards finished in anodised aluminium.
Mercedes-Maybach EQS SUV interiors
The Maybach EQS SUV’s dashboard is similar to the regular EQS SUV – it gets three different screens that come with Maybach-specific graphics. The numerous exclusive features on the screens include the animated display of the instrument cluster in Maybach mode.
The rear seat entertainment consists of two 11.6-inch displays on the front seatbacks. It also comes with the MBUX tablet at the rear, which can also be used outside the vehicle.
The Mercedes-Maybach EQS SUV gets two electric powertrain options. The top-spec 680 SUV gets 4MATIC as standard, and makes 658hp and 950Nm. It has a range of up to 600km (WLTP), 0-100kph comes up in a claimed 4.4 seconds, and it has a top speed of 210kph. In comparison, the EQS 580 4 Matic SUV comes with a power output of 544hp and a range of up to 456km. It remains to be seen which version makes it to India.
Expect more details on the Mercedes-Maybach EQS SUV to be revealed closer to its launch.
