eVX’s start of production was recently delayed to February 2025.

The eVX, Maruti’s first electric SUV, has been spied on test yet again, revealing a few new design details.

  1. Maruti eVX to get Y-shaped front LED DRLs, tail lamps
  2. Launch expected next year
  3. To rival upcoming Hyundai Creta EV, Tata Curvv EV

Maruti eVX spy shots: exterior design

The latest spy shots have emerged from Southern Europe thanks to our friends at Motor.es, where the eVX has been spotted undergoing summer testing. While the prototype still wears a significant amount of camouflage, the headlamps and tail lamps are visible for the first time. The Y-shaped headlamps have been slightly redesigned on this near-production model over the concept that was first showcased at the Auto Expo 2023. They are also much different from the ones seen on previous test mules.

The tail lamps feature a similar styling language as the headlamps, and could be connected together with a light bar running across the tailgate – as seen on the concept. The alloy wheels feature a rather simple multi-spoke design, however, the production-ready version is expected to get a different design. The eVX’s platform will also be used by Toyota for its own mid-size electric SUV, which will follow later.

Maruti eVX: production, launch details

The start of production for the Maruti eVX SUV was moved from September 2024 to February 2025. It will be manufactured in India and exported to Japan and European markets. The brand is currently in the works of addressing multiple battery supply and software challenges that have delayed the start of production of the electric SUV.

Meanwhile its direct rival Hyundai Creta EV’s India launch has been confirmed for January 2025, with production to begin at the end of 2024. The upcoming Tata Curvv EV SUV-coupe is also a rival, and its launch will precede both the Maruti eVX and Hyundai Creta EV.
