Marciano Brunette has filed a defamation lawsuit against Demi Engemann over sexual assault allegations. The lawsuit also names Jeff Jenkins Productions, accusing the production house of amplifying the allegations for dramatic effect
In a dramatic new turn in reality-TV circles, Marciano Brunette of ‘Vanderpump Villa’ has filed a defamation lawsuit against Demi Engemann and the production company behind ‘The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives’, over allegations that he sexually assaulted her. He also added that these claims are completely false.
According to legal documents, the suit contends that Engemann and the producers deliberately reframed a kiss and private messages, which Brunette describes as a consensual interaction, into accusations of non-consensual touching and assault. His attorney even mentioned in the lawsuit that “she even told him ‘I love you,’ and he responded in kind.” The lawsuit further mentions that Brunette has emphasized that there was no non-consensual contact, no assault, and nothing ‘predatory’ about any of it.
Brunette’s complaint argues this portrayal has tarnished his reputation, caused professional setbacks, and resulted in harassment and social media backlash.
The controversy dates back to the filming of ‘Vanderpump Villa’ and crossover episodes involving cast members from both shows. According to Brunette, the two remained in friendly contact long after filming via calls, texts, and even FaceTime, undermining the narrative of unwanted conduct.
Meanwhile, the lawsuit also names Jeff Jenkins Productions, accusing the production house of amplifying the allegations for dramatic effect, allegedly without offering Brunette a fair chance to respond on-screen.
Earlier, in a first public statement since filing the suit, Brunette described the past few months as “the hardest time” of his life, expressing a resolve to fight what he called “false and damaging” claims, seeking damages and an injunction against further defamatory statements. The statement also read, “Sexual assault is an incredibly serious matter, and I will not hesitate to pursue legal action against anyone who harms me or attempts to damage my name in pursuit of fame or fortune.”
In the lawsuit, Brunette seeks damages for the personal and professional harm he says he’s suffered. He has also requested a carefully tailored court order that would stop Demi Engemann and Jeff Jenkins Productions from repeating or circulating any statements that a judge ultimately rules to be defamatory.
