Mahindra commenced bookings for the new Thar Roxx at 11pm today, and in just sixty minutes, the homegrown carmaker has secured over 1.76 lakh bookings for the off-road SUV. This, however, is likely to translate to a rather long waiting period. Bookings for the Thar Roxx remain open at all Mahindra dealerships and online as well.

  1. Thar Roxx deliveries to begin on October 12
  2. Thar Roxx 4X4 with Ivory interior to be delivered first
  3. Mahindra will share delivery schedule over next 3 weeks

Mahindra Thar Roxx: booking and deliveries

The Thar Roxx has been one of the most anticipated launches of this year, and as we reported earlier, most dealers had already received a good number of “unofficial” bookings ahead of it officially opening today. While Mahindra has conveyed the 1.76 lakh-plus booking figure on its online portal, we expect the actual number to go even higher within no time. The 1.76 lakh-plus figure is the highest first-day booking for any of the company’s products.

Mahindra will begin delivering the Thar Roxx on Dusshera on Saturday, October 12, 2024. Once the initial deliveries commence, the brand will start informing customers about their tentative delivery schedules in a phased manner over the next three weeks. Following customer feedback, Mahindra recently also introduced a brown interior colour option for the Thar Roxx that’ll not be as bprone to getting dirty as the original white interiors. Deliveries for the Roxx with the brown interiors, however, will begin much later in January 2025.

As far as production is concerned, Mahindra has allocated a monthly output of 6,500 units for the Thar Roxx. This number could see an increase in near future with production adjusted with other models, given the high interest in the SUV.

Mahindra Thar Roxx: engines, specs

The Thar Roxx petrol is 2WD only and comes with a 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine in two states of tune – 162hp/330N for the manual and 177hp/380Nm for the automatic. Meanwhile, all diesel 4×2 variants, whether manual or automatic, are powered by a 152hp and 330Nm version of the 2.2-litre diesel. The Roxxs 4WD variants come only with a 2.2-litre diesel engine, whose power figure varies based on whether it is paired with the 6-speed manual (152hp/330Nm) or the 6-speed torque converter automatic (175hp/370Nm).
