The Luthras had fled India shortly after the tragedy and were reportedly staying in Phuket, Thailand, when Thai authorities detained them last week for staying in the country illegally. Following diplomatic coordination between Indian and Thai officials, the brothers were placed on a flight back to India under an emergency travel certificate, after their passports were suspended by the Indian government.
As soon as their flight landed in New Delhi, the Goa Police took them into custody at the airport. The brothers are now expected to be produced before a Delhi court, after which they will be brought to Goa on a transit remand for further questioning and investigation in connection with the fire.
