Four of family dead, one injured as truck hits autorickshaw in Gwalior
Four members of a family were killed and one person injured on Thursday after a speeding truck hit their autorickshaw in Gwalior in Madhya Pradesh, a police official said. The incident took place at 2 am on Morena highway in the city’s Purani Chavani area, he added. “Naresh Valimiki (52), his wife Usha (45), their son Rahul (25) and niece Ankita (16) died, while the autorickshaw driver has been hospitalised with injuries,” Purani Chavani police station assistant sub inspector Dharmendra Chauhan said.

The said bus was found to be unfit for operations as it did not have the necessary documents,” Assistant Divisional Transport Officer (Enforcement) Arvind Singh told reporters on Wednesday. “On contacting Pushpendra Singh, it was found that the bus was being operated by Chandan Jaiswal, a resident of Paharganj in Delhi,” he said.

Rs 4,131 cr drugs seized in 5 months against Rs 897 cr in entire 2023: Maharashtra govt
The anti-narcotics teams seized drugs of Rs 4,131 crore in five months of 2024 in Maharashtra, a 360 per cent increase over the value of contraband seized in the last calendar year, the government data shows. The government also found the involvement of some police officials in drugs trade and they have been dismissed from service, Deputy Chief Minister Fadnavis said in the state legislative council on Thursday. 10 schools in Madhya Pradesh ordered to return Rs 65 crore fees illegally collected from students
The authorities in Madhya Pradesh’s Jabalpur district have directed ten private schools to refund about Rs 65 crore charged extra as tuition fees from more than 81,000 students over seven academic sessions, an official said on Thursday. The schools had hiked tuition fees in violation of the law, said Jabalpur District Education Officer (DEO) Ghanshyam Soni. The district-level committee set up under the Madhya Pradesh Niji Vidyalaya (Fees Tatha Sambandhit Vishayon Ka Viniyaman) Adhiniyam, 2017, examined the accounts of these schools and found them to be charging extra fees from students, he said. The authorities have junked the illegal increase in fees by these schools and the collection of Rs 64.58 crore from 81,117 students between 2018-19 and 2024-25, he said.

The Samyukt Kisan Morcha (SKM), which led the 2020-21 farmers’ protest, made the announcement a day after its general body met. “The general body has decided to resume the agitation demanding implementation of the agreement, dated December 9, 2021, that the Union government has with the SKM, signed by the Secretary of the Department of Agriculture, Government of India, and other key demands affecting the livelihood of farmers,” the SKM said.
