Skoda Auto Volkswagen India (SAVWIPL) has reported its highest-ever domestic sales for CY2025, with volumes rising around 36 percent year-on-year to 117,000 units. Including exports, total sales stood at 159,500 units. The conglomerate also crossed a key manufacturing milestone during the year, producing two million vehicles under its Made-in-India programme.

However, the biggest takeaway from the group’s 2025 performance is how much of the volume came from one brand and one new model. The Skoda Kylaq alone contributed over 45,000 units, while Skoda’s overall sales crossed 70,000 units, with the brand reporting 107 percent growth during the year.

  1. 2 million Made-in-India vehicles produced
  2. Virtus leads the mid-size sedan segment
  3. Retail/service network expanded to 700 touchpoints

Kylaq leads the numbers

The conglomerate has called the Kylaq its key driver for 2025. As the group’s first sub-4-metre SUV for India, it has helped Skoda compete in one of the country’s highest-volume segment with a more price-competitive product.

With over 45,000 units sold in 2025, it became the single biggest contributor to the group’s domestic volumes and a key reason Skoda crossed 70,000 units for the year. It also highlights how important the sub-4-metre SUV segment is for the group’s India volumes.

Made-in-India MQB platform remains the backbone

The company said the MQB-A0-IN based models have supported its growth across manufacturing and sales. While 2025 was led by domestic recovery, SAVWIPL also flagged its export performance. Cumulative exports have crossed 715,000 units, and that shipments are expanding to newer markets as well.

Piyush Arora, Managing Director & CEO, Skoda Auto Volkswagen India, said, “Our performance is rooted in consistent execution and long-term road map for India. The strength of our Make-in-India strategy is visible across manufacturing, sales and exports. As we move into 2026, our priorities remain clear: expand our portfolio and widen our network in line with customer needs.”

Virtus leads the mid-size sedan segment; Golf GTI and Octavia RS sold out.

Beyond Kylaq volumes, the group highlighted strong traction for key models across both Volkswagen and Skoda brands, such as the Virtus, Slavia, Kushaq and Taigun. Volkswagen continued to lead the mid-size sedan segment, with Virtus holding a 38 percent share in its segment.

The company also sold out the Skoda Octavia RS and the Volkswagen Golf GTI within days of launch. In addition, the conglomerate also mentioned that it has expanded its retail and service reach to 700 customer touchpoints across India.
