Most changes are concentrated on the face of the updated EV6. The headlamps are now more angular, drops deeper into the bumper and features a revised LED daytime running lamp signature that spans across the entire width of the face. The front bumper has also been revised with new air vents and it appears a lot smoother than before.
There aren’t many new changes in profile, but it gets a new design for the alloy wheels that come in either 19- or 20-inches. At the rear, there are mild alteration to the LED signatures in the tail lamps, and it gets a new bumper as well.
On the inside, the EV6 facelift gets an updated curved panoramic screen for the digital instrument cluster and the infotainment display. It also gets a new two-spoke steering wheel that now features a fingerprint scanner that allows registered drivers to start the car without a key. The facelift also gets a digital rear-view mirror and an improved head-up display, along with an AI-based navigation setup.
Kia EV6 facelift powertrain, specs
On the mechanical front, the EV6 facelift gets a larger 84kWh battery which replaces the pre-facelift’s 77.4 kWh unit. In RWD-spec with 229hp and 350Nm, it returns a range of 494km while in 325hp, 605Nm AWD-spec, it has a range of 461km. These claimed range figures by Kia are based on South Korean test cycle. The new battery supports 350kW DC charging and is said to charge from 10 percent level to 80 percent in 18 minutes.
The facelifted EV6 is expected to make it to India sometime next year, and like the outgoing car, it will likely continue to be an import. This segment of premium electric crossovers has become fairly populated lately with the likes of the Mini Countryman Electric, the BMW iX1 and the Mercedes EQA. Kia will also have its own stable mate, the Hyundai Ioniq 5, to contend with.
