Civil aviation minister Ram Mohan Naidu has vowed strict action over the disruptions, which stemmed from pilot-rostering failures
IndiGo flight cancellations LIVE: IndiGo’s widespread operational collapse has stranded thousands of passengers at airports nationwide, underscoring persistent pressures in India’s aviation sector.
Civil aviation minister Ram Mohan Naidu has vowed strict action over the disruptions, which stemmed from pilot-rostering failures.
He said, “Since we have observed this only with IndiGo, we have formed a committee which will inquire into all this so that they can establish where things went wrong and who did it wrong. We will take the necessary action on that as well… whoever was responsible for this needs to pay for it.”
A committee has been tasked with probing the issue, while the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has issued temporary exemptions to help stabilise operations. The airline saw extensive cancellations and delays, with Pune Airport alone reporting 16 arrivals and 16 departures cancelled between midnight and 8 am on Friday, and one flight diverted to Hyderabad due to Flight Duty Time Limitations. Other carriers, however, continued flying as scheduled.
