Israel’s cybersecurity, software, agri-tech, infra cos aim to step up investment in India

In course of his official visit to Israel, India’s Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal met several businesses as part of his industry interactions to discuss possibilities for stepping up their investments and collaboration across sectors.

The Minister met Nadav Zafrir, CEO of Check Point Software Technologies, to discuss the company’s deepening cooperation with India and opportunities to strengthen partnership in cybersecurity, talent development, and digital innovation. In his meetings with the CEO of the IDE Technologies Group Alon Tavor, he discussed the group’s operations in India to explore opportunities to deepen cooperation in wastewater management, desalination, and sustainable technologies.

Potential opportunities for Indian companies in Israel’s upcoming metro projects and ways to strengthen cooperation in urban mobility and infrastructure were discussed with the CEO of NTA – Metropolitan Mass Transit System Limited Itamar Ben Meir, while avenues to expand existing partnership in precision irrigation, agri-tech, and sustainable farming solutions were discussed in the Minister’s meeting with the CEO of Netafim Gaby Miodownik.

After meeting India’s Minister, Israeli cybersecurity company Check Point’s CEO Nadav Zafrir indicated plans to expand its existing R&D centre in Bengaluru by engaging in strategic investment worth hundreds of millions of dollars and hiring more professionals in the deep-tech sector in the next 10 years. Highlighting huge opportunities in banking, trading, defence, and the power sector in India, he stressed on an increasing need for cybersecurity punctuated by digitisation of every aspect of people’s lives.
