Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Israel will not allow the Palestinian Authority to be involved in Gaza’s administration after a Gaza committee adopted a PA-style logo

Gaza, Prime Minister
Benjamin Netanyahu said on X, after a Palestinian committee overseeing postwar civilian affairs in the territory adopted a logo resembling that of the PA. The development concerns the National Committee for the Administration of Gaza, formed to manage daily affairs in Gaza in place of Hamas.

“The logo of the National Committee for the Administration of Gaza (NCAG) which was presented to Israel was entirely different from the one published this evening. Israel will not accept the use of a Palestinian Authority symbol; the Palestinian Authority will have no part in the administration of Gaza,” Netanyahu wrote.

The Palestinian technocratic committee assigned to handle day-to-day matters in postwar Gaza replaced its original emblem with one used by the Palestinian Authority. When it was set up last month, the NCAG introduced a distinct logo featuring a bird in the colours of the Palestinian flag.

Similarity to Palestinian Authority emblem

Earlier in the day, the NCAG updated its social media accounts with a new logo that appears identical to that of the Palestinian Authority, which shows a golden eagle facing right with a Palestinian flag on its chest. The only difference between the revised NCAG emblem and the PA’s symbol is that the shield beneath the eagle carries the NCAG acronym instead of the word Palestine.

The Palestinian Authority manages day-to-day affairs in parts of the West Bank. Netanyahu has strongly opposed any PA role in governing postwar Gaza, although he said last week that PA representatives would be part of the operational mechanism at the Rafah Crossing between Gaza and Egypt.
