India won’t release crude oil from its reserves despite volatile markets. Fuel supply is stable, with no price hikes or consumption limits. Extra LPG shipments are expected.
India has no plans at present to release crude oil from its strategic petroleum reserves in coordination with the International Energy Agency (IEA), according to government sources, even as global energy markets remain volatile.
They added that the country’s fuel supply position remains stable and that there is no immediate proposal to increase retail prices of petrol and diesel.
Sources also said India is not considering any fuel consumption restrictions at this stage, suggesting that authorities believe current supply levels are adequate to meet domestic demand.
To further strengthen supplies, Indian energy companies are expected to secure additional liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) shipments from the United States and Canada, the sources added.
The government also assessed that jet fuel inventories remain sufficient, ensuring that aviation operations will not face supply disruptions.
