Less than two months after it was launched, Hyundai has added a new variant to the second-generation Hyundai Venue’s lineup. Priced at Rs 9.99 lakh, the HX5+ is only offered with the 1.2-litre NA petrol engine mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox, and is slotted above the HX5. Here is what prospective buyers of the Hyundai Venue HX5+ will get.

Exterior

The Hyundai Venue HX5+ gets the quad-beam LED headlights from the higher HX6 trim, along with the latter’s prominent roof rails. The HX5+ also features a rear wiper and washer, improving overall safety. However, the 15-inch steel wheels (with covers), front and rear faux skid plates, and body-coloured ORVMs and door handles have been carried over from the HX5. On the other hand, the HX5+ misses out on the black-painted ORVMs and roof spoiler that the HX6 gets.

The Venue HX5+ adds more convenience-related features over the HX5.
For those who like to be chauffeur-driven, the inclusion of a rear sunshade is definitely welcome. Hyundai has also included a wireless charging pad, which means fewer cables and a clutter-free centre console. Sticking to the centre console area, the HX5+ variant of the Venue comes with an armrest with an integrated storage cubby. Compared to the HX5, the driver’s side power window here features a one-shot up/down function.
Powertrain
The Venue HX5+ uses the same NA petrol engine as the HX5.
Under the bonnet of the Hyundai Venue HX5+ is a 1.2-litre four-cylinder ‘Kappa’ engine that produces 83hp and around 115Nm of torque. This is the same mill that does duty from the base HX2 variant right up to the HX6T, and it is mated to a 5-speed manual transmission as standard. The Hyundai Venue 1.2 has an ARAI-rated mileage of 18.05kpl.
Hyundai Venue HX5+ price
The Hyundai Venue HX5 1.2 MT is priced at Rs 9.15 lakh, while the HX6 with the same powertrain costs Rs 10.43 lakh. This means that the new HX5+ variant is roughly Rs 85,000 more expensive than the HX5. For an additional Rs 33,000 or so, the HX6 gets automatic climate control, a rear parcel tray, a leather-wrapped gear knob and split-folding rear seats. However, compared to the HX5, the HX5+ gets more modern headlights and practical interior features that will enhance the overall ownership experience.
