The move aims to build digital, creative and gaming skills pipeline; 5 university townships planned near industry corridors
Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Sunday announced the government’s plan to establish Content Creator Labs across Indian educational institutions as part of a broader push to align education with emerging digital and creative industries.
While announcing the budget 2026, Sitharaman said the Centre will set up ABGC (Animation, Visual Effects, Gaming, and Comics) content creator labs in 1,500 secondary schools and 500 colleges across the country. In a parallel initiative, the government also proposes to develop five university townships in the vicinity of major industry corridors to strengthen industry-academia linkages.
The finance minister said the initiative is aimed at nurturing creativity, digital storytelling, and advanced media skills among students at an early stage, while preparing a future-ready workforce for fast-growing sectors such as animation, gaming, and visual effects.
