The disruption comes just a day after flight operations in India were affected by a major technical fault at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport, which caused widespread delays and cancellations across the country on Friday.
In India, the malfunction had crippled the Automatic Message Switching System (AMSS) — a crucial part of Air Traffic Control’s flight planning process — leading to disruptions in hundreds of flights at the nation’s busiest airport, which handles over 1,500 flights daily.
Airport authorities later confirmed that the issue was “completely resolved” and that operations had returned to normal by Saturday morning. “All concerned agencies are working diligently to minimise any inconvenience caused,” an advisory stated, urging passengers to stay in touch with their airlines for the latest updates.
The Airports Authority of India (AAI) also confirmed late Friday that the snag had been fixed, allowing flight schedules to be gradually restored.
