Israel after Iran’s draconian regime threatened his mother. The revelation was made by one of the relatives of the scientist in a conversation with Iran International. Vahid Razavi, a member of the Vadi family, told the outlet that the Rouzebh was detained following a work dispute a year and a half ago.
The relative also recalled how Vadi was tortured by the authorities while he was detained. “Rouzbeh was tortured intensely, to the point that bones in his leg and two ribs were broken, and then his mother was arrested and jailed,” Razavi said. He claimed that the Iranian interrogators photographed his mother and showed the images to him to extract a confession.
According to Iran International, the Iranian court claimed Vadi was convicted after he transferred classified information about one of the scientists killed in the June attacks to Mossad.
The forced confession
The relative noted that the Iranian interrogators forced Vadi to confess to his association with the Israeli officials. His confession was eventually read out by the authorities in a televised address. While recalling the harrowing details, Razavi pointed out how the Iranian officers constantly threatened to torture the detained scientist’s mother.
“Key facilities were Fordow and Natanz (uranium enrichment plants), for which I sent information. I told them I knew this and that about Fordow, they (Mossad agent) told me to send everything,” Vadi said in what IRIB described as a confession video it ran on the air.
“The entry and exit of nuclear material into the Uranium Conversion Facility (UCF) and Fuel Manufacturing Plant (FMP) were very important to them,” he furthered. It is pertinent to note that Vadi holds a PhD in nuclear engineering from Amir Kabir University of Technology.
While his confession was televised, a voiceover in the video said that Vadi met Mossad agents five times while he was in Vienna. He was asked to open a cryptocurrency account to receive payment for his services. The defendant said in the video that Mossad had promised him a foreign passport should he complete a long-term collaboration.
