Bihar saw an impressive voter turnout of 66.91% in the second and final phase of its Assembly elections on Tuesday. According to the Election Commission of India, this marks the highest voter participation in the state since 1951.

Early exit polls released after the conclusion of voting have largely projected a
clear win for the ruling NDA alliance, led by the BJP and Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s JD(U). The surveys suggest the alliance is set to comfortably surpass the majority mark of 122 seats in Bihar’s 243-member Legislative Assembly.

In contrast, the RJD-led opposition coalition, Mahagathbandhan, is expected to secure 100 seats or fewer, according to the exit poll forecasts.
