S Jaishankar is in Paris to bolster the India-France Strategic Partnership. Following high-level talks and a historic address to French ambassadors, he will head to Luxembourg to strengthen diplomatic ties and engage with the vibrant Indian diaspora

External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar arrived in France on Monday, kicking off a high-profile six-day diplomatic tour.

Upon his arrival in Paris, Jaishankar visited the exhibition ‘Ce qui se trame – woven stories between India and France.’ In a post on social media, the Minister lauded the showcase for its celebration of India’s rich textile heritage, craftsmanship, and “savoir-faire.”

Strengthening the strategic partnership

The visit shifts to high-level diplomacy on Tuesday, as Jaishankar prepares to meet with the French leadership. A central fixture of the trip will be a bilateral meeting with his French counterpart, Jean-Noël Barrot. The two leaders are expected to review progress under the India-France Strategic Partnership, deliberate on regional and global security challenges, and discuss collaborative efforts in defence, space, and green energy.

Jaishankar will also address the 31st edition of the French Ambassadors’ Conference as the Guest of Honour, reflecting the strategic weight Paris accords to its relationship with New Delhi.

The Luxembourg leg

Following his engagements in France, the Minister will travel to Luxembourg. This visit marks a continued effort to strengthen ties with key European partners. Jaishankar is scheduled to hold extensive talks with Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs, Xavier Bettel, and other senior leaders. Beyond official government business, he will also interact with the Indian community in Luxembourg.
