Cristiano Ronaldo scored twice on Saturday for Al Nassr and now has 956 goals to his name and remains just 44 short of his extraordinary target of 1000 career goals.
Cristiano Ronaldo further cut short the distance between him and the incredible 1000-goal landmark as the Portuguese superstar scored twice on Saturday in Al Nassr’s dominant 3-0 victory over Al Akhdoud in the Saudi Pro League.
The 40-year-old now has 956 goals to his name and remains just 44 short of his extraordinary target of 1000 career goals.
He also completed 40 goals in year 2025 with his second strike of the match which helped Al Nassr become the first team in Saudi Pro League with 10 wins in their first 10 games in a season.
Ronaldo heads towards his dream
Ronaldo opened the scoring just after the half-hour mark as he scored on a rebound from inside the box to get his first strike of the night. Ronaldo completed his double just before the half-time whistle to double his team’s lead.
He got a hat-trick in the 66th minute but the goal was soon denied after a VAR check. João Félix put the finishing touch for Al Nassr as his goal in the injury time made the scoreline 3-0.
“Hard work is the way to success!,” Ronaldo posted on social media after the victory which sees Al Nassr go four points clear at the top of the Saudi league.
Ronaldo aims 1000
10 games into the season, Ronaldo has once again showed that age is not slowing him down. The 40-year-old is now the joint-second highest scorer in the Saudi Pro League this season with 10 strikes in nine appearances, just one less than teammate Félix.
He is now just 44 goals away from collecting a total of 1000 career goals. Ronaldo has previously said that he is challenging himself to touch the 1000-strike milestone
“I want to reach 1,000 goals,” Ronaldo had said in an interview on his former Manchester United teammate Rio Ferdinand’s YouTube channel. “If I don’t have any injuries, this for me is the most important [thing], I want that. For me, the best mark that I can have in football is to reach, first, 900 goals. After, my challenge is to be at 1,000 goals.”
Since then he has already crossed the 900-goal landmark and is moving quickly towards the next step.
