Third-gen Q5 to sport evolutionary styling with some familiar Audi design cues.

The next-gen Audi Q5 has been spied on test ahead of its debut later this year. The latest spy shots reveal new details about the equipment that will be on offer, and some hints as to the SUV’s design. The Q5 will be among the last combustion engine models to get an all-new generation as Audi intends to launch its final cars with combustion powertrains in 2026. After that all new models will be electric-only.

New Audi Q5 interior details

The latest spy shots have emerged from Southern Europe thanks to our friends at motor.es. The pictures of the third-gen Q5 show that its interior will have a lot in common with the Q6 e-tron, which is expected to launch in India later this year. The 11.9-inch digital instrument cluster and the 14.5-inch infotainment touchscreen – both of which run the latest Audi operating system – are clearly seen in the images. It is likely that Audi will offer the optional 10.9-inch MMI display for the front passenger as well.

New Audi Q5 exterior highlights

While most of the SUV is covered in camouflage, the light units are visible and the silhouette is unmistakably Audi. There’s a new upswept headlights that will most likely feature the Matrix LED tech seen in newer Audis. The tail-light design is also different, and is likely to have OLED units. Among the other changes that can be identified are the new front grille and bonnet, and the new-design alloy wheels. The new Q5 also sports what looks like the signature ‘Quattro Blister’ on the rear haunches.

New Audi Q5 powertrain

Although no details about the new Q5’s powertrain have been revealed, we expect petrol and diesel engines with 48V mild-hybrid tech, and at least one plug-in hybrid powertrain, with about 100km of EV only range, for international markets. Higher variants will get Audi’s Quattro AWD system as standard, while entry level trims will be front-wheel driven. There’s no manual gearbox option expected with the third-gen Q5.

New Audi Q5 India launch details

Considering the current Q5 has been on sale in India since 2021 – the Premium Plus variant is priced at Rs 65.51 lakh and the Technology trim costs Rs 70.80 lakh – the next-gen model is expected to come here as well. However, Audi India has not revealed a timeline for it to arrive at a showroom near you. Meanwhile, the German brand is gearing up to bring the locally assembled Q6 e-tron this year to slot in below the Q8 e-tron, which is priced from Rs 1.15 crore.
