Security forces on Sunday (Sept 28) foiled an infiltration attempt along the Line of Control in the Keran sector of Kupwara, Jammu and Kashmir. Militants trying to cross from the Pakistan-occupied side were intercepted, sparking a fierce gunfight.

Two terrorists were reportedly killed, though their bodies have not yet been recovered because of heavy firing and difficult terrain. The operation is still underway, with reinforcements sealing possible escape routes.

The Keran sector, a sensitive zone with repeated infiltration attempts, has been under tight vigil as such bids usually rise before winter.
