Last year, streaming platform Jio Hotstar got together actor Akshay Kumar and filmmaker Karan Johar along with Malaika Arora and Manish Malhotra for a show called Pitch To Get Rich, which had no similarities with Shark Tank as per the creators.
The show is coming back with season 2 with Kumar returning with his duties with Johar. The announcement comes on the back of an exclusive high-profile get-together held in New Delhi yesterday, hosted by renowned industrialist Ravi Jaipuria, who hosted an intimate dinner for the show’s core team and distinguished guests.
The celebratory evening saw the presence of the makers of the show including Sanjay Nigam, Akshay Kumar, Karan Johar, Naveen Jindal, Vagish Pathak, Gaurav Dalmia and Vinod Dugar. The other celebrity guests included actresses Neha Sharma, Nikita Dutta, Amyra Dastur and Saiee Manjrekar.
“Fashion is a powerful business today, and this platform gives talented founders the opportunity to learn, grow and access the right kind of guidance and capital. Season 1 founders have found their niche as entrepreneurs. I’m excited to see Season 2 unlock even more potential.” said Akshay Kumar at the event.
It features a Rs 40 crore investment pool aimed at supporting India’s next generation of fashion entrepreneurs. Fourteen selected founders will pitch their ideas, tackle real-world business challenges, and compete for funding and mentorship, a press release said last year.
The series aims to spotlight India’s booming fashion industry in mainstream entertainment for the first time, combining star power, business acumen, and creativity to highlight homegrown talent.
