A heavily camouflaged test mule of the Chery iCar V23-based SUV was spied testing on our roads. Spyshots provide further confirmation that the model is indeed on cards for an India launch. The iCar V23-based SUV will be the third product in JSW Motors’ model onslaught for India.

  1. The Chery-based SUV will be locally assembled at JSW’s Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar plant.
  2. It will be the third model to launch after the arrival of the Jaecoo J5-based SUV.

JSW is entering the Indian automotive market as a standalone brand whilst continuing its joint venture with MG. It plans to launch rebadged versions of Chinese carmakers like Jetour, Jaecoo, and iCar, all of which are subbrands of Chery. The electric mid-size SUV will likely be introduced in 2028 after the arrival of the Jetour T2-based PHEV and the Jaecoo J5-based eSUV

Internationally, the iCar V23 is offered with two battery pack options. There’s a 59.93kWh battery pack paired to a rear-mounted motor that delivers 136hp and 180Nm of torque. The other option is a larger 81.76kWh battery pack mated with a dual-motor setup that produces 211hp and 292Nm of torque. Claimed range figures on the CLTC cycle for the 59.3kWh and 81.76kWh battery packs are 401km and 510km, respectively. DC charging speed support ranges from 85kW to over 100kW. It’s yet to be known which battery pack JSW will choose for the India-spec version. Bringing the dual-motor version with AWD could be advantageous for JSW, since no rival offers it yet.
