The film opened modestly on Friday at Rs 0.75 crore, which was mainly due to a stay in the release of the film that was lifted later in the afternoon. It performed well on Saturday and Sunday (Rs. 4.65 cr and Rs. 4.75 cr respectively, buoyed by holiday and weekend footfalls. A typical weekday slowdown followed on Monday (Rs. 2.50 cr), but the return of holiday audiences on Holi fuelled a solid rebound on Day 5.

Surpassing Rs. 16 crore despite midweek challenges

While The Kerala Story 2 hasn’t matched the roaring opening of its prequel, consistent weekend growth and a strong holiday uptick have helped it approximate the Rs. 17 crore mark within its first five days.

It is to be noted that films with controversial themes often see volatile patterns during weekdays, with holidays like Holi providing much-needed momentum.
